Answer by tjfinvestor
Hi Susan, Forex trading is for very advanced traders with lots of capital. Before you start trading for real, I would recommend that you spend a lot of time trading on paper. My recommendation would be TD Ameritrade. I am not a forex trader but, TDA gets high marks for their trading platform.

Question by whale shark: How do you make money trading currencies? Please explain as if to a first grader….?
I feel like I’m losing money everyday keeping my savings in USD. I live abroad but kept my money in USD because I just kinda figured it was safer, but boy I should’ve switched it to RMB (Chinese yuan) a long time ago.

Now I’m moving to Japan in a few days and wonder if it would be better to take out all that money now (in China) and then switch it from RMB to yen, or if I should wait til I get to Japan and just switch USD-YEN. What’s the best plan of action?

I heard the dollar just fell a whole bunch against the yen, so thats why im asking. I don’t really understand the currencies market…

Best answer:

Answer by class member
EASY..just find a currency trading house and they’ll let you know what is working best at that time, since it varies.

Don’t travel with all that cash..set up an account where you are which has an affilate in where ytou are going, and use that accountmto withdraw what you need as you need it !!

Question by matthewspeed: What’s with the sudden explosion in forex trading?
It seems to me I can’t visit a finance related site without seeing something about forex trading to the point that I see ads for $ 250 “mini accounts.” It seems to me that trading currencies is exceedingly risky and only for the very sophisticated investor. I trade in options but I moved into that from equity investing. At least in that area I can still look at fundamental corporate performance and detailed economic forecasts to research my options activity. In the world of currencies, however, no such audited, published information exists. While I am sure there are huge amounts of money to be made, it seems as though the average investor has less chance of being successful in the long term with forex than even options trading. Are people just being drawn in to forex like all the late night “Flip this house” infomercials?

Question by Drek: Trading as a Christian?
Recently i’ve come to terms that Christ is a major part of my life, and i need to embrace his way of life. For the last year or so i’ve been trading currencies to make money. One part of me says, that because of the meaninglessness of money, what better way to get it than fiddling with numbers, the other part says that to even partake of something like this is wholely unchristian, as christianity is entirely about giving of oneself…not taking. I don’t want to be rich from trading i just want to survive and use it to make my way thru university. I wonder about business too (ie: being a businessman/profiting) and being a christian.

The gospels are clearly against anything like this, yet i see many books on christian business, christian economics…blah blah. This all seems like a vain attempt to justify something YOU actually seek, but christ does not endorse. Any other christians/jews/muslims out there with any insight into this? Thank you

Best answer:

Answer by Sjnoring Vjerilood
Christians excel in justifying greed. Fact is economies, money, and capitalism are antithetical to the life and teachings of Rabii bar Yusef. The disciples were correct; this is a hard teaching – who can follow it?

I am 18 years old and I have a few grand in my bank. I have tried the idea of trading currencies, but I am not really that interested in trading currencies. However, I do have a very strong interest in the idea trading stocks, and I am much more familiar with it and find it a much better option. What I ‘d like to know is if I started trading the ups & downs of stocks by using CFDs (Contracts for Differences) by day-trading stocks I’m familiar with, starting now at age 18, could I become a millionaire by age 25 within 7 year from now?

Question by : Effects of rise in value of the Euro relative to $ and , have on eurozone members & non euro trading partners
hi there, i have an essay question in having trouble with it is as follows,

to explan what effects might the present rise in value of the euro relative to other currencies such as the sterling and US dollar have on eurozone members AND their non euro trading partners.

any help would be appreciated!

thanks

Best answer:

Answer by Harry Il Selvaggio
The effects are many and prolonged in time, and depends on the structure of the local economies.

As long as we’re talking about euro members, a strong euro makes easier and more convenient the importations and, on the other side, inconvenient the exportations. For example, in the eurozone the oil price is increasing, but much less than in the USA.

As the export quote decreases, the production in the eurozone decreases as well, since most of the products are now coming from the rest of the world. This, together with the consequent raising of the disoccupation rate, contributes to the low inflation too, because salaries are kept down.

Of course, a minor export quote means a lower growth of the GDP, with all the effects you can imagine.

That’s not all. Because it’s a complicated matter, I would suggest you to check out the rest of the connected effects of all of this I summarized to you

Question by David Junior: About trading easy-forex?
I would like to trade currencies online using easy-forex.. but i really don’t know much about it..
How much they charge for each trade?
How much fees i should pay every month minimum?
If i make some money from trading will it be transferred to my bank account immediately, or i should cancel my forex account to have my money back?

Best answer:

Answer by Joe
Playing Forex can appear alluring, but the majority of people who try it lose money. All you have to do is do a web search on the words “Forex” and “lose” to see this is the consensus.

Forex is similar to what we call a “zero sum” game. You are making a bet with someone else about whether a currency will rise or fall. For every winner there has to be a loser. The net winnings of everyone combined equals zero. If you are smarter than the average player, you may make money. If you are dumber than the average player, you are likely to lose money. Most of the people making the “bets” in Forex are highly trained professionals at banks and other institutions. You are unlikely to beat them at this game.

Actually Forex is not quite a zero sum game. It’s a slightly negative sum game as the Forex broker takes a small percentage each time in the spread. It’s a small amount but over a hundred trades, it ends up being a considerable amount of money. So the average player is likely to lose money, and remember the average player is a highly trained professional and probably smarter than you.

There is a lot of luck in Forex, and if you play it, you will have some periods of time where you make money. This is usually because you are having a lucky streak, not because you have suddenly become an expert Forex player. However, most people are unwilling to admit their success is due to luck. They become convinced they have a system that works, and lose a lot of money trying to refine it.

Further complicating the problem is the large number of Forex scams on the internet. Most Forex websites are of questionable honesty. You will find many people on the Internet that claim they made a lot of money using Forex. They are usually liars trying to make money. They will say: “Go to Forexcrap,com/q2347.” The “q2347″ is a signal to the Forexcrap site that you are being referred to them by “q2347.” If they sell something to you, “q2347″ gets a kickback. These coded signals can be hidden by different methods in the link. Other people will refer you to their own private website or blog for the purpose of trying to get money off you. Also there are a good number of trolls out there that like to pretend they are successful forex traders just for the fun of it.

I would recommend not trying to do Forex at all, unless you are a trained professional. It’s like playing poker with people better than you, with the house constantly taking a small percentage from the pot.
